Arc Offers Free Double Workshop at South
Washington County Schools Transition Resource Fair Sept. 30

September 2, 2008

ST. PAUL – Arc Greater Twin Cities invites parents who have a transition-age child receiving special education services to a free double workshop that can help them prepare for their child’s step to the adult world. GetSet! for Transition and Guardianship Overview will be offered from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. as part of the South Washington County Schools Transition Resource Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the South Washington County Schools District Program Center, 8400 E. Point Douglas Road S., Cottage Grove. The fair will run from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

The workshop combines information from two of Arc’s most popular workshops. GetSet! for Transition helps parents understand the special education transition process and outlines the process for developing their child’s transition Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The Guardianship Overview explores substitute decision-making for individuals who need assistance in meeting their needs.

There is no cost to attend and registration is not required. For more information, call Arc at (952) 920-0855 or South Washington County Schools at (651) 458-6670.

Funding for these grant activities is made possible with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. The source of the funds are from federal award, Grants to States-Special Education, CFDA 84.027A of P.L. 108-466 IDEA and amendment thereto.
